Trophy Party Tomorrow @ 5:30

Hey everyone....my address is 15 Horace Court. That's off Sherman St., between 11th Ave. and Terrace Place. Horace Court is a dead end to your right as you go down Sherman from 11th Ave. If you need directions, give me a call @ 917-670-0858. Christine is bringing pasta salad and Lynda is bringing potato salad. I'll supply the hot dogs. We'll also have some frosty cold adult bevs. We deserve it, don't we?

Trophy BBQ Rescheduled Due to Storms

Well....the impending break in the HIDEOUS heat wave comes with a price to pay; RAIN, and a lot of it, apparently. From 1 pm until tomorrow night we'll have thunderstorms. I'd like to reschedule to next Wednesday, June 27th. I really don't want to even chance that we'll get rained on. I'm sorry, but Mother Nature is in charge here, and tomorrow she's going to bare her fangs and take a bite out of us, apparently. Please call me @ 718-369-3578 with any questions or complaints. Backyard Trophy Party 6 pm on 6/22

On Friday June 22nd @ 6:00 pm we will have a party in my backyard. We'll hand out trophies, laugh a little, and celebrate our season. We can use this blog spot as a place to respond about what dish everyone would like to bring. I know Matt's mom said she's bringing a pasta dish. I'll make some hot dogs and burgers. Should be fun! Maybe some cupcakes? See the pic?

Practice for Early Arrivals Tomorrow

Since I wasn't able to get out of work today, I'd like to try to have a short practice BEFORE tomorrow's game. I will get to the field by 4:45 pm for some infield / outfield practice. Please try to be there.

Tournament Schedule for HN Cubs

We have been scheduled to play our first round tournament game against SFX Henderson on Saturday June 9th @ 4:45 pm. This is our shot at a longer season. The winner of our game would play next Monday @ DeMattina at 6 pm. Let's get on a roll in to the PPBA Cub tournament.

I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday weekend. I will post this week's practice schedule later on tonight. Let's try to remind our children of how lucky we are because of the sacrifices made by others. Happy Memorial Day.

Practice Cancelled Today Due to Wet Fields

Hey gang- One of my class parents walked through the fields on his way to pick up his daughter at dismissal. He said that he was canceling HIS OWN practice because the fields are unplayable. Good thing we don't play til next week. We'll practice next week.

Friday 5/18- 5:45 (H) vs. CF Cub South- Field # 7 Saturday 5/19- 4:45 AT SFX Rosa- Field # 5 Sunday 5/20- 10:45 am (H) vs. SFX Henderson- Field # 1 Again, please try to arrive no less than 20 minutes before the scheduled game time. PS- Get the picture...busy weekend...baseball player napping on the bench...get it? Sleepy player napping on dugout bench? Get it? Well, I thought it was cute.

New Arrival Times...PLEASE

Well, the rain looks like it won't let up in time for us to have a practice (with or without me) on Wednesday. I'd try for Thursday, but then we'd have something FOUR straight days, as we have games Friday, Saturday and Sunday, this weekend. Anywho...as far as the new arrival time goes, it seems like we're too "last minute." Our team tends to get to the field later than the other team, in most cases. So...PLEASE try to get to each scheduled game NO LESS THAN 20 minutes before each game. Besides, as you can tell, we usually use the "first come, first in the line up" strategy of batting order making. Thanks for your cooperation. Cliff

The Week Ahead...

Well...it looks like rain for the next couple of days. I will be in Washington DC with my class on Wednesday and Thursday. We play this weekend....THE WHOLE WEEKEND! I'll contact our coaches to see if any of them might be available to hold a practice on Wednesday or Thursday. I'll post the situation asap. Thanks

Happy Mother's Day Baseball Moms

I hope our moms enjoyed a great Mother's Day weekend. My poor mom drove me and my teammates all over the place. We played summer league 4-5 days a week. Thanks for being such great baseball moms.

First Wins for the Cubbies

Congrats to all of us on our first W. I was going to try to have 2 practices this week, but my schedule will not permit it. We will practice on Thursday @ 4:30. I'll be in the park trying to grab a field. Go HN Cubs!

Practice is on Thursday Again

Hey all, it looks like we will have to practice on Thursday again. The weekend's rain has muddied the playing fields in the park. We'll keep our fingers crossed for Thursday. Uniforms Can Be Picked Up Before the Parade Tomorrow

I will be arriving at the corner of PPW and Windsor Place, in front of Windsor Shoes, @ 8:30 am. That's 1/2 hour BEFORE we are scheduled to leave for the parade. If you did not pick up your uniform today, you should try to get there around 8:30. or so. I hope to see everyone at the parade.

If you would like to stop by my house tonight, after 6 pm, I will be able to give you your uniform. There are two big boxes, and I'd rather not drag them around anywhere again.

Uniforms , Uniforms, Uniforms!!!

I just got an e-mail from Tom Larkin stating that uniform pants are in and will be distributed to coaches on Thursday night @ 7 pm. We already have the shirts. Anyone who was at practice on Tuesday already received their shirts, hats and socks. I still owe you pants and belts.

Opening Day Parade is Saturday April 14th

The annual Prospect Park Baseball League opening day parade is a wonderful tradition. This year's parade should be great. We will meet on the corner of Windsor Place and Prospect Park West (9th Ave., for those of you that have been here as long as me)
@ 9 am. We'll walk down to the line up block. FULL UNIFORMS should be worn (see the upcoming post).

Opening Day is THIS Sunday April 15 @ 4:45 pm at DEWEY Jr. HS

Yes, we are playing at Dewey Jr. High School this Sunday @ 4:45 pm, against one of the many St. Francis Xavier teams that we'll be playing against this season. Dewey Jr. High is on 3rd Ave., between 40th and 41st St., in Sunset Park. More info to come about UNIFORMS and possible practice.

Wednesday Practice Moved Up to 4:15 pm

Hey everyone...I know that the 3rd graders @ 154 have a performance tomorrow. I will get to "the tree" at 4:00, instead of the earlier 5:00pm. I hope this helps SOME of us. They will have a little more time to make it to 154 on time. Jack wants to do BOTH. Hope others will. See ya tomorrow.

Booohoooo....the wet forecast and the wet fields have cancelled our practice for today. We will practice on Wednesday @ 5 pm, in the park. Just go right in the 10th Ave. entrance and walk down to the big oak tree. We'll meet there.
